Outreach & Workshops
Churchill Center & School’s Sandra K. Gilligan School Partnerships & Outreach Program is essential in strengthening our mission of fostering greater understanding and support for all people with learning disabilities by training other educators, supporting families, and enlightening the community.
Since the inception of our Community Outreach Program in 1990, more than 37,500 educators, parents, students, and other supporters have been given the opportunity to experience and broaden their understanding of learning disabilities.
We offer Teacher Workshops, Parent Workshops, Student Workshops, Community Service Events, and a Speaker Series. Each one of these programs offers our community a variety of services to recognize learning disabilities and to then equip the participants with strategies and knowledge to offer further assistance.

International Dyslexia Association Kansas-Missouri Branch’s Dyslexia Dash 2021
Churchill Center & School is once again helping to sponsor the MO/KS IDA Dyslexia Dash!
VIRTUAL & IN-PERSON RUN - OCTOBER 2-3, 2021:
Like to have family fun? Like to run? Believe that all students deserve a quality education? Then the International Dyslexia Association Kansas-Missouri Branch’s Dyslexia Dash is for you!
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year's Dash will be an untimed fun run. Participation will be offered in person and virtually, and all participants are encouraged to time themselves and upload their times to our site! We will host a timed 5K in the spring when conditions are more favorable for an intense run, and any runners who participate this fall will receive a discount for the spring event!
Please choose your event carefully so you are registered for the Dyslexia Dash in your area! Each event has the specific location in the description, and we will provide detailed information to registrants via email and social media as the race gets closer.
As many as 1 out of every 5 people in the United States have some degree of a learning disability. The most common being dyslexia representing 80% of all learning disabilities. The Fall Family Fun Run is an event to benefit the KS/MO IDA. This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping teachers, individuals with dyslexia, their families and the communities that support them. All race proceeds will go towards the spreading of dyslexia awareness along with funding for teacher training and student reading scholarships.
Here's how it works:
• Register!
• Download a timekeeping app (or just use your phone's timer while you run!)
• Keep an eye on our Facebook page for playlist suggestions, stories from previous runners, and conversations about making your virtual run a blast for everyone! You can also set up your own individual fundraising page to get support from friends or family who don't want to run, but want to help teachers meet their students' needs.
• On the day, share your photos and tag KS/MO IDA! Use the hashtag #UntilEveryoneCanRead or #RoomForEveryone
• Upload your times and keep an eye out for announcements of best times!
• Keep running #UntilEveryoneCanRead!
